Terms for sellers

The agreement between you and us when you open a shop on Handsold. We’ve written it to be read. If anything isn’t clear, ask us.

Last updated 2 October 2026

Who we are

Handsold is a trading name of Bifrost Development Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales with company number 17215135. Our registered office is Unit 13 Freeland Park, Wareham Road, Lytchett Matravers, Poole, BH16 6FA.

In these terms, “we” and “us” mean Bifrost Development Ltd, and “you” means the person or business opening a shop. You can reach us at hello@bifrost.gg or on 07951 792452.

What Handsold does

Handsold gives you an online shop of your own, at an address like yourshop.handsold.co.uk, with templates, a design editor and a back office for your products, orders, customers and emails.

You are the seller. When someone buys from your shop, the sale is between you and the buyer. We provide the software your shop runs on. We don’t buy, sell, hold or deliver your goods.

Your account

  • You need to be 18 or over to open a shop.
  • Keep your details up to date and your password to yourself. You’re responsible for what happens in your account, including anything your staff do in it.
  • You can open up to five shops yourself. Ask us if you need more.

Plans and fees

Every plan has every feature. They differ only in the monthly price and our share of each sale:

PlanEach monthOur share of each sale
FreeFree5%
Maker£92.5%
Studio£251%
  • Our share is worked out on each order, at your plan’s rate when the order is paid, on what the buyer paid for the items and delivery after any discount.
  • If you refund an order, in full or in part, we give back our share of the amount you refund.
  • Prices are in pounds sterling (GBP). Bifrost Development Ltd isn’t registered for VAT, so no VAT is added. If that changes, we’ll tell you at least 30 days before it affects what you pay.
  • The payment provider charges its own card processing fees, under your own agreement with them. They’re separate from our share, and none of them comes to us.
  • There are no listing fees, renewal fees, advertising fees or set-up fees.
  • If we change our prices or fees, we’ll email you at least 30 days before. You can change plan or close your shop before the change applies to you.

How payment works

  • Your buyers pay through Mollie, our payment provider, into your own Mollie account. You agree to Mollie’s terms when you connect your shop to it.
  • Our share of each sale is taken automatically from that payment as the buyer pays, so you never get a separate bill for it.
  • A paid plan is charged monthly in advance, starting on the day you choose it, to the payment method you give us.
  • If a monthly payment fails, we’ll email you and try again. If it still hasn’t been paid after 14 days, your shop moves to the Free plan.
  • Plan & fees in your back office shows every fee we’ve taken and what it was worked out on.

Changing plan or closing your shop

  • You can change plan at any time in Plan & fees. The new share applies to orders paid from then on.
  • A paid plan starts straight away. When you leave one, it runs to the end of the month you’ve paid for. We don’t refund part months.
  • You can close your shop at any time. Its pages go offline, and you can ask us for a copy of your data first.
  • If you’re using Handsold as a consumer rather than a business, you can cancel a paid plan within 14 days of starting it. If you asked us to start it straight away, we may charge for the days you used.

Your shop and what you sell

You’re responsible for your shop, your products and how you describe them, and for following the law on selling online in the UK. That includes buyers’ rights to cancel and return, delivery, product safety and your own tax.

Your shop must tell buyers who you are and how to contact you, and show your delivery and returns policies and your terms. Every new shop starts with pages for these. Check and complete them before you sell.

You can’t use Handsold to sell:

  • anything illegal in the UK, or anything that encourages harm
  • weapons, drugs, tobacco, vapes or alcohol
  • adult content or services
  • counterfeit goods, or anything that copies someone else’s work, design or trade mark
  • live animals
  • financial products, gambling or anything to do with cryptocurrency
  • anything else our payment provider or the card networks don’t allow

Your photos, words and designs stay yours. You give us permission to host, show and copy them as far as we need to run your shop, and to show your shop, with its name, when we talk about Handsold.

AI helpers

  • Our AI helpers can suggest product descriptions, photo descriptions, tidier product photos and words for your shop. They only suggest. Nothing is published until you choose it, and you’re responsible for what you publish.
  • To make a suggestion, we send the words or photo involved to an AI service through OpenRouter. Don’t use the helpers on anything you wouldn’t want shared with those services.
  • Each plan includes a monthly allowance of AI help, shown in Plan & fees.

Your buyers’ data

For your buyers’ personal data, such as their names, addresses, email addresses and orders, you’re the controller and we’re your processor under UK data protection law. That means we:

  • only use it to run your shop and as you instruct, through your back office
  • keep it secure, and make sure everyone who handles it is bound to keep it confidential
  • use only the providers named in our privacy policy to help us, and tell you before we add a new one
  • help you answer requests from your buyers about their data, and tell you without delay if it’s ever lost or misused
  • delete it, or give you a copy, when you close your shop
  • give you the information you need to show we’re keeping to these promises

Our privacy policy explains how we look after the personal data we’re responsible for ourselves, such as your account.

If we suspend or close a shop

We may suspend or close a shop that breaks these terms or the law, if our payment provider asks us to, or to protect buyers. We’ll tell you why. Unless it’s serious or urgent, we’ll give you the chance to put things right first.

Keeping Handsold running

We work hard to keep Handsold online and your data safe, but we can’t promise it will never be interrupted. We’ll tell you about planned work that affects your shop.

We keep improving Handsold. If a change takes away something important you rely on, we’ll tell you in advance.

Our responsibility to you

  • Nothing in these terms limits our responsibility for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law doesn’t allow us to limit.
  • If you use Handsold for a business, we aren’t responsible for lost profits, lost sales or other indirect losses. Our total responsibility to you in any 12 months is limited to the fees you paid us in those 12 months, or £100 if that’s more.
  • If you use Handsold as a consumer, we’re responsible for loss or damage you suffer that’s a foreseeable result of us breaking these terms or not taking reasonable care.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. We’ll email you at least 30 days before a change that affects you, and the date at the top of this page always shows the latest version. If you don’t agree with a change, you can close your shop before it applies.

The law that applies

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales can settle any dispute. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland and use Handsold as a consumer, you can also go to your local courts.

Buying from a shop?

These terms are for sellers. If you’ve bought something from a shop on Handsold, your order is with that shop, under its own terms. Its contact details, delivery and returns policies are on its own pages. If you can’t reach a shop, contact us and we’ll help.
